Bristol Design is located in central Bristol, England, 14 Perry Rd, BS1 5BG. If you happen to come and visit we are up the road from Bristol’s bus station, up from Bristol Royal Infirmary, just down from the University of Bristol. About 1.2 mile from the end of the M32. Our phone number if you get lost: 0117 929 1740
With Bristol Council putting in the new segregated cycle lanes on Perry Rd along with the turning restrictions onto and out of adjacent St Michael’s Hill access is a bit more difficult. I have contacted the local paper (Bristol Post) and they have written a very good article about the problems with a few photos of the shop and of me. If your interested its at: Bristol Post Article
By car We are in the Clean Air Zone, be aware of charges!! See notes and link to map on CAZ
The easiest way to find us if arriving in Bristol along the M32 go right to the very end, stay right, on to Bond St dual carriageway to large roundabout (sign-posted Bus Station, Clifton, Bristol Royal Infirmary). Go straight, second turning off, past the bus station on your left then hospital and we are just past the lights past the hospital on the right.
We are about 1.2 miles from end of the M32. Parking directly opposite was expensive and now removed for a cycle lane but temporarily sort of back. OK, complicated, just need to keep aware as changing daily.
If you are arriving from the West it might be along Hotwells Rd, up Jacob’s Wells Rd, around the triangle and Queens Rd, to Park Row which changes into Perry Rd. If you get to the hospital its time to turn around.
Trenchard Street multistory is possibly least expensive parking, going up St Michael’s Hill or Horefield Road is less expensive than Lower Park Row or Colston St. which have limited spaces.
Yes parking is difficult in Bristol, sorry, it wasn’t when the building was bought. To difficult to move location now.
Google map or Sat Nav Post Code is BS1 5BG
Caution: St Michael’s Hill junction with Perry Rd is being redesigned. Was closed completely closed now partly open again.
Now One Way only in the downward direction with left turn onto Upper Maudlin St going toward the hospital away from us. We don’t know if this is permanent or not.
It’s still possible at the moment to drop items off or collect in front of the shop.
From Perry Rd have to go down past the hospitals to the Bear Pit roundabout and back up to turn right some way along past us at Woodland Rd. We haven’t been informed about this or its time frame, but part of the remaking of Perry Rd and Bristol traffic patterns. Woodland Rd is about the only turning up the hill now.
This and the cycle lanes add extra driving for many, results in more pollution, more traffic jams but it seems the environmental pressure groups want this.
Coach to main bus station gives a few minute walk. Out the bus exit side, turn left the short distance to junction then right top of road then left and straight along just past all the hospital complex. It’s about 3-4 minute walk to us.
Train, Rail to Temple Meads station.
From the station it can be about a 30 minute walk to the shop along Victoria Street, then Broad St and onto the bottom of Christmas Steps. Its about 1 mile.
Their is no perfect bus from the train station (this is Bristol) but the best is probably the Nos. 8, 73 or 72. This is in December 2022, it can change. Bristol doesn’t like any forms of transport other than cycles and escooters it seems.
As you look out of the station entrance the No. 8 stop (T8) is near the top of the Station Approach road (some shelter available), the No. 73 and 72 stops further down in the open (i.e. no shelter).
The 73, probably best, runs about every 20 minutes and is more direct with few stops to The Centre, C12 Colston Ave. Return is from stop C9 City Centre, Rupart Street. Caution there are 2 stops called City Centre, want the second one the C12.
The 8 runs about every 10 minutes, has multiple stops before the C7 stop at The Centre. The 72 runs hourly (about 15 min past the hour, but is often cancelled). The closest stop to us is C7 The Centre.
Returning using the 8 or 72 want stop C13 off the centre on Baldwin St. Using 73 want B4 on Rupart St.
Any bus going to City Centre gets you within a 4 to 5 minute walk to the shop. If you are going to the hospital the hospital free bus get you very near us.
Flying into Bristol Airport and airport bus to the bus station, then the same walk as from Coach station. We are about 4 minute walk on right side.
Helicopter the only nearby landing is on the hospital roof for air ambulance and we don’t recommend needing it.
